Caring for your art.

GOING HOME

Second Skin Bandage

  1. After 48 hours, take the second skin bandage off slowly - in the direction of your hair growth. Don’t panic if the bandage comes off before 48 hours. If it does - just clean as follows and don’t try to replace the bandage.

  2. With clean hands, wash the area with lukewarm water and unscented soap.

  3. Pat dry with a clean paper towel or cloth and leave to air dry.

KEEPING CLEAN

  1. Your tattoo should be cleaned once a day with lukewarm water and soap.

  2. Cleaning your tattoo in the evenings is usually best, if you choose to do this in the shower, leave your tattoo cleaning for the end of your shower.

  3. Clean your tattoo with soap that works best for you, I recommend a fragrance-free, antibacterial soap but it's really up to your skin. If there is a mild soap that your body is used to, I suggest using that over introducing something new.

  4. Always pat dry your tattoo with a clean paper towel.

MOISTURIZING

  1. Let your tattoo heal on it's own for about 3-5 days until you apply lotion or a balm, dry heal is the best!

  2. Please use a non-scented lotion/balm that is hypoallergenic and preferable vegan if you choose to moisturize. I suggest coconut oil. Don’t use vaseline or any petroleum based or derived substance.

DRESS APPROPRIATELY

  1. Don't cover your tattoo up right away with clothing, let it air dry and be free!

  2. Wear loose-fitting, clean clothing that will not rub against your tattoo, especially for the first 1 to 2 days.

HEALING

  1. Hand poke tattoos actually heal a bit quicker than machine tattoo as hand poking tends to be a bit more gentle during the tattoo process.

  2. An itchy tattoo is okay, itching means your tattoo is starting to heal, this is natural.

  3. Please do not scratch and/or pick your tattoo.

WHAT TO AVOID

  1. Don’t touch your new tattoo!

  2. Do not use: alcohol, anti-bacterial spray and/or peroxide to clean your tattoo.

  3. Avoid using dirty towels, bed sheets and clothing. Please use clean items during your healing process.

  4. Avoid re-bandaging, if your bandage comes off, leave it off.

  5. Do not moisturize with petroleum jelly or anything that may let not air through.

  6. Avoid swimming, pools, hot-tubs, baths and long showers (any prolonging time in water) until healed.

  7. Watch out for animal saliva and hair, keep the area away from your pet for a bit while healing.

  8. Do not shave the area of your tattoo until it has completely healed!

  9. Try to avoid any heavy sweating for the first 3 days.

LONG TERM CARE

  1. Take good care of your skin by moisturizing after every shower.

  2. Apply sunscreen over your tattoo if you are planning to do activities in the sun.

  3. Send me a pic when healed :) touch up can be done after 3 weeks.
